How to attach key figures and alarms to a floor plan
A floor plan can show key figures — selected measurements placed where they belong — and flag visually when a value goes outside its limits. The drawing is then not just a map but a status picture.
How to add a key figure
- Open the building you want to work on. See How to switch building and search for a building.
- Go to Floor plan in the sidebar.
- Open the floor plan and click Edit.
- Click Add KPI.
- Choose the measurement in Select key figures.
- Place the pin where it belongs.
- Click Save.
The Select key figures dialog shows the Name, Type and Latest datapoint for each value, so you can see whether the series is actually reporting before adding it.
If you've selected everything available, the message says You have selected all available key figures in the floor plan or system image.
How to set the limits that trigger a flag
Open Settings on the pin and set:
- Name and Unit
- Min value and Max value
- Priority
The pin flags visually based on these:
State | Text |

Below min | Value is below the minimum configured for this pin. |
Monitored state | Value matches a monitored state for this pin. |
Not running | Out of service |
Note: This is a visual flag on the drawing, not an alarm. Nobody gets an SMS or email because a pin turns red. If somebody needs notifying, create an alarm as well — see How to create an alarm.
That's the most important distinction to grasp: the floor plan tells whoever is looking at it.
Key figures and alarms in the overview
The floor plan overview has a Key figures and alarms column, alongside Building, System, Plan drawing, System image and Settings. That shows which floor plans actually have key figures set up — and which are only drawings.
How to choose which key figures are worth showing
A floor plan with twenty pins is as unreadable as a table. What works:
- One value per room or zone — temperature or CO2, not both everywhere
- Values where position matters — room temperature belongs on a drawing; total energy consumption doesn't
- Values with sensible limits — a pin without a min and max is never coloured, and so flags nothing
Frequently asked questions
Why isn't the pin being coloured?
Check that Min value and Max value are set. Without limits the pin has nothing to compare the value against.
Can I remove a key figure?
Yes, delete the pin with the confirmation Delete this pin? The action is logged as Removed KPI {name}.
Can I see what's been changed?
Yes. The history logs Added KPI {name}, Removed KPI {name}, Added label {name} and Background changed.
Does this apply to the system image too?
Yes, Select key figures is used for both the floor plan and the system image — see How to place pins on a schema.
Tip!
Set Min value and Max value based on what requires action, not on what's technically possible. A pin that turns red at 24 degrees is useful; one that turns red at 40 never turns red, and then the colour is just decoration.
