How to customize the dashboard
Your dashboard is configured in Customize dashboard. That's where you choose the KPIs and widgets shown on Overview — see How to use the building dashboard.
How to open the setup
Three ways in:
- Open the building you want to work on. See How to switch building and search for a building.
- The plus icon on the dashboard.
- Customize dashboard in the user menu in the bottom-left corner.
- Control+Shift+S to go straight to the KPI selection.
The intro text explains it: Default KPIs and widgets give your dashboard a starting point. Review the list and add what you need. Run this setup again from the user menu in the bottom-left corner, or return here from the plus icon on your dashboard.
How to choose KPIs and widgets
Choose from the list, grouped into categories.
Widget categories: Consumption, Building management, Climate & weather, Market & pricing, Analysis and Shared widgets.
KPI categories: Consumption KPIs, Indoor climate KPIs, Building management KPIs and Climate & weather KPIs.
Each widget carries a description of what it does — for example Track accumulated energy consumption over time. and Accumulated energy use modeled with the ET model for better accuracy.
Click Done when you're happy.
To start over, use Remove selection and confirm Remove all selected widgets?
How to use the role-based setup
Properate can propose a whole setup based on how you work. The dialog asks: What best describes how you want to use Properate?
Option | Description |

Technical operations | I work in technical operations or maintenance and use Properate to monitor the building and identify possible faults and improvements. |

Other | None of these options match how I want to use Properate. |
You can answer Choose later. The confirmation says what happens: This replaces your selection of widgets and KPIs with a selection based on the profile you chose.
You get Dashboard updated. If it fails: Couldn't update the dashboard. Try again.
Note: Read the reach of the choice before confirming. For an automatic setup: The choice applies to this building and is remembered for buildings without a configured dashboard. Dashboards you have already configured are not changed. For a manual one: The choice applies only to this building. Other dashboards are not changed.
Run the setup again later with Reset by role.
How to make the setup cover one building or many
This is the most important distinction to grasp:
- A manual setup applies only to the building you're in.
- A role-based setup is remembered and applied to buildings that don't yet have their own dashboard.
If you manage many buildings, the role choice saves you building the same dashboard twenty times. Anything you've already customized manually is left untouched.
Frequently asked questions
How many widgets should I have?
Few enough that you see them all without scrolling. A dashboard you have to scroll through is a report — and then Analysis or Reports are the better tools.
Can I put my own analyses on the dashboard?
Yes, under the Analysis category. Gauges and heatmaps can be added too — see How to create a gauge.
What's in "Shared widgets"?
Widgets colleagues have published. See How to use the building dashboard.
Do I get an error if the setup doesn't go through?
Yes: Dashboard setup could not be completed, with Your existing dashboard has not been changed. So the old setup is safe.
Why are user preferences unavailable?
The message User preferences are not available at the moment. means the settings couldn't be loaded. Try again.
Tip!
Start with the role-based setup and adjust afterwards. It gives you a working dashboard in one click, and removing two widgets you don't need is far easier than picking the right twelve from a blank page.
