How to record waste manually
If your waste data doesn't come from an integration, you record the quantities yourself. You do that on the Waste page, against the manual meters you've created per waste code.
How to record waste
- Open the building you want to work on. See How to switch building and search for a building.
- Go to Waste in the sidebar.
- Select the period at the top. The page title shows which period you're looking at: Waste, {from} - {to}.
- Click Register waste.
- Choose the waste code in Select waste code.
- Enter the quantities with their dates, and save.
Note: Register waste is greyed out if you have no manual waste meters yet. Create the meter for the fraction first — see How to add a waste meter.
How to see where the data comes from
The Source column in the table shows where each line originates:
- Customer registered — entered manually by you
- Franzefoss — pulled from the integration
- Norsk Gjenvinning — pulled from the integration
If the building has both an integration and manual entries, this is the quickest way to see whether something has been recorded twice.
The missing data warning
If waste data is incomplete for the period, the page shows a Data accuracy warning and tells you which months are missing.
That doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong. Many waste companies submit data for the current month during the following month, so the most recent month is almost always missing. The warning is there so you don't report on an incomplete basis without knowing it.
Note: Sorting degree and number of fractions are calculated from what is actually registered. If a month is missing, the key figures for the period are misleading — not merely slightly low.
Frequently asked questions
Should I record in kilos or tonnes?
Use the same unit as the meter is set to, and stick to it. The unit belongs to the meter, so mixing them gives totals that don't add up.
Can I correct a quantity I've entered wrongly?
Yes. Open the meter and change the datapoint.
Why isn't the sorting degree what I expected?
Two common causes: a fraction recorded against the wrong code, or a month with no data. Check the Source column and the missing data warning before drawing conclusions.
How do I get the figures out?
Use the export button on the waste page, or create a waste report — see How to create a waste report.
Tip!
Record waste monthly, at the same time as the invoice or weighing slip arrives from the waste company. Then you have the figure in front of you, and you avoid reconstructing a whole year just before a reporting deadline.
