How to customize the sidebar with shortcuts

A building's sidebar has two parts: Shortcuts at the top, holding links to the modules you use most, and Product categories below, holding the rest of the modules grouped into Operational and Analytics.

Properate suggests the shortcuts based on what gets used most, but you decide what sits there and in what order.

How to reorder your shortcuts

• Open a building.

• Grab the drag handle on the shortcut you want to move.

• Drag it where you want it and let go.

The order saves immediately, and it follows your user across every building.

How to hide a shortcut

• Hover over the shortcut in Shortcuts.

• Click the eye icon with the Hide shortcut tooltip.

The module disappears from your shortcuts, but not from Properate — it now sits under Product categories.

How to bring a hidden module back

• Open Operational or Analytics under Product categories.

• Click the module.

The module opens, and at the same time it is put back into Shortcuts.

Note: Clicking a module in Product categories both opens it and makes it a shortcut. If you only want to visit a module once without changing your menu, hide the shortcut again afterwards.

What's in Product categories?

Every module the building has access to, grouped by what it's used for:

• Operational — VNC, 3D, Technical schema, Floor plan, Calendar, Setpoints, Timeseries, Notes, Anomalies, Virtual sensors, Cloud automations, Energy flexing, Third-party app, Settings and FDV.

• Analytics — Energy, Water, Waste, Indoor climate, Reports, Analysis and Incidents.

No module is lost by hiding its shortcut; it is always available here.

Frequently asked questions

Does my setup apply to all buildings?

Yes. Shortcuts are a user setting, so the same setup greets you in every building you open.

Do my colleagues see the same setup as me?

No. Every user has their own.

Can I hide a module for the whole organization?

Not from here. Removing a module entirely is an access change — see How to change module access.

Why can't I drag my shortcuts?

Check whether the sidebar is collapsed to icons only. Drag and drop works when the menu is expanded.

Tip!

Put the three or four modules you visit daily in Shortcuts and leave the rest in Product categories. A short shortcut list is the whole point — if everything is a shortcut, nothing is.
