How to place pins on a schema
Pins are what make a schema live. Each pin is attached to a timeseries and shows its value where the component sits in the drawing.
Pins are placed in edit mode. Remember that changes in edit mode are immediately visible to customers — use Convert to draft if you're making larger rearrangements. See How to create a technical schema.
How to add pins
- Open the building you want to work on. See How to switch building and search for a building.
- Open the schema and start editing with Edit the schema (shift+e).
- Use Create timeseries to add a measurement.
- Drag the pin to where it belongs in the drawing — the tooltip says Drag to add pins.
- Attach the pin to the right timeseries.
If it fails: Couldn't create the pins. Try again.
How to move pins
Drag the pin to its new position. If it fails: Couldn't move the pins. Try again.
How to work with several pins at once
To move or delete a group, switch on multi-select with Turn multi-pin selection on or off (shift+s).
The panel shows how many are selected: 1 pin selected or {n} pins selected.
Delete the selection with Delete pins (backspace), and confirm Delete these {n} pins?
If it fails: Couldn't delete the pins. Try again.
Note: Deleting several pins is confirmed with the count in the text. Read that number before confirming — it's the only check against deleting a whole selection you didn't mean to include.
How to show names above the pins
Use Show or hide the nameplate above pins. Nameplates make a schema easier to learn, but they take up room — in a dense installation they're often better off.

The number of pins on the schema appears as {n} pins in the settings.
Frequently asked questions
Why does a pin show no value?
The timeseries hasn't delivered data. If the pin itself is the problem, it says This pin can't be displayed right now.
Can I change how the value is displayed?
Monitoring rules on the timeseries govern the presentation. Use Add rule — if the series has none, it says No monitoring rules for this timeseries.
Do the pins come along when I copy the schema?
Yes, copying preserves the layout and attaches the pins to the new system's timeseries. If something can't be mapped, you get Diagnostics to choose manually.
How do I get back to a particular pin?
Right-click and use Copy link. The link points at the pin.
Tip!
Place pins where the component actually sits in the drawing, not where there's free space. The whole value of a system diagram is that position means something — a pin placed for convenience turns the schema into a list with extra steps.
